One two-month journey through the Australian Coast has been cancelled in the wake of the death of an elderly woman who was abandoned by the ship on a remote tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the vessel, but parted ways from the group for a rest. The ship departed without her and went back several hours later after the ship staff became aware the lady was unaccounted for.

A large-scale hunt located her person the following day.

Officials are looking into the incident, alongside investigators and the medical examiner.

Head of the voyage organizer stated that travelers and crew on the vessel were notified that the continuation of the journey had been cancelled due to the "unfortunate death and previous engine troubles".

In a statement, he added that guests would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the operator was working "to arrange the homeward trips of the travelers via private aircraft".

Officials also released an updated communication, and said they had "provided a directive to the Commander" preventing any new passengers from entering the liner.

The official said that they would inspect the vessel in the Australian city upon its arrival.
